Housing Overview

Families from out of the area often ask for recommendations for places to stay in the Grand Rapids area while their child is attending the Conductive Learning Center. We provide the housing options listed below because they are close to the Conductive Learning Center, guest-centered, competitive in cost for their type of facility, and located in good surroundings. Prices subject to change.

A 17-bedroom large farmhouse-like facility with five acres of rolling green lawn. Has a large kitchen, dining room, laundry, playroom, deck, toddler play yard and lighted walking paths in a quiet neighborhood. No one is ever turned away because of inability to pay however there is a maximum of 3 CLC families per session for school year and 4 CLC families for summer camp allowed. These rooms will be allotted on a first come, first serve basis upon acceptance to the CLC program. A fee of $25 per day is suggested when possible.

Parent insight: Rooms updated in 2016. Different organizations bring in dinners on most nights/weekends. You have a space in the fridge for your items. There is also a stocked community pantry/fridge/freezer accessible to you. There are washers and dryers in the basement available. Facility is fully accessible, including some bathrooms. Rooms have various bed configurations (2 twins, 2 doubles, 1 double) with bathrooms attached to each room. Various passes to YCMA, Frederick-Meijer Gardens, Children’s museum, etc.) Rec/playroom room in basement with TV, gaming systems, pool table, and foosball table. Food is only allowed in the common areas, water only is allowed in the bedroom.

The Country Inn & Suites East is conveniently located off Hwy 96 at exit 38, less than 10 minutes from the Learning Center. We are happy to offer a tax-free extended stay rate of $70 for families staying a minimum of 30-days and ask for the first 30-days payment at check-in ($2100). For families staying less than 30 days but at least 3 weeks we can offer a rate of $79.99 plus tax per night and ask for a $1500 deposit at check-in that will be applied towards your final receipt. Each room includes:

Parent insight: Indoor pool and hot tub. Very well maintained and clean older facility with welcoming staff. Rooms are a good size. Kitchen is limited to a microwave and fridge. There is a door that separates the bedroom and living area. Standard rooms would be difficult to navigate with a wheelchair. Laundry area available.

Rates are $109 per night for a One Bedroom Suite, and Two Bedroom Suites are $159 per night for 12-29 nights. Prices are $104 and $154, respectively, for a stay of 30 or more nights.

Every spacious suite features all the comforts of home with plenty of amenities. Sales tax is refunded for stays of 30 days or longer. Travelers will earn 10 Hilton Honors Points for every $1 spent.

Parent insight: Monday through Thursday evening social meals are light. Soup and salad each night, with other rotating meals of sliders, pasta, Greek, and Vietnamese. Indoor pool and hot tub is nice. Two washers and dryers on the second floor. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Cleaning staff is friendly and do a nice job. Nice full kitchen, but ovens are only included in the two bedroom suites. Rooms renovated in 2014, Bathrooms renovated in 2017.

The Prince Center serves a variety of needs—from hosting meetings and retreats to providing overnight accommodations for parents, visitors, and business travelers. You’ll find the atmosphere casual and relaxing with many windows to take in the wooded view, two cozy fireplaces, a patio overlooking the nature preserve and a baby grand piano. King and queen suites are available with a mini kitchenette and larger living area. Guest amenities include: complimentary deluxe continental breakfast with a selection of cold and hot items, on-site fitness center and access to Calvin College’s Spoelhof Fieldhouse Complex (limited hours and access), guest laundry facilities (washer/dryer), and more. Fieldhouse includes an Olympic sized swimming pool, climbing wall, and a state of the art fitness center. There is also disc golf along the nature preserve. A discounted rate starting at $84/night is available for a reservation of 2-4 weeks according to availability.

Parent insight: A very pleasant, calm, clean atmosphere with friendly staff. A bit off the main road, so there is no traffic. A large nature preserve is located directly behind the hotel and available for your use. There is lots to do for families as listed above. Nice breakfast with a large eating area. There are usually pastries left out throughout the day. No dinner provided, kitchens are small and without a stovetop. Laundry area available.

Parent insight: Beautiful new facility. Rooms are spacious. Staff is nice. Indoor pool with hot tub. Monday through Wednesday evening social. Full kitchens are nice. Some kitchens have ovens, be sure to request one. Some rooms are larger than others, be sure to request it. The dining table in non-accessible rooms are higher than a standard table and would not be able to be used with a wheelchair. Laundry area available.

Rooms

Each one of our handicap accessible rooms offers ample cupboard space and plenty of privacy. In the kitchen area you’ll find a full sized refrigerator to store all your groceries, electric stove top to cook delicious meals, full sized dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and dishes and pots, pans and silver wear to enjoy your meals. In the living space you will find a pull out sofa and TV so you can have guests stay the night while they enjoy their favorite TV shows.

Separating the living space from the bedroom will be a door for increased privacy. Through those doors you will find a comfy and spacious Queen sized bed. Along with a TV, closet space and dresser for extra storage. Each room also includes access to free Wi-Fi and HBO channels, while also providing a DVD player for movies and Ethernet hook up for desktops.

We offer two different types of bathrooms for our accessible rooms, one will have a roll in shower with bars, to allow wheelchair access in the shower. The other will include a bathtub with bars and shower seat. Both bathrooms offer hand held, removable shower heads and plenty of space for a wheelchair and assistance.

Parent insight: Outdoor pool only. Quieter hotel, with convenient location off 28th street. Though the property is slightly older, the rooms are clean. Sleeping and living area are separated by a door. Nice kitchen, but no oven. Laundry area is available 24 hours a day, and onsite fitness center.
